We are deeply saddened to see the suffering faced by people who are victims of the evolving situation in Ukraine. The Lotus Trust is committed to supporting humanitarian aid to the impacted people and requests your support to make that a reality.
There are thousands of people who are leaving Ukraine through the bordering states including Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia. There is an immediate need to support them with food and essential items as they enter the neighbouring country.
Our objective is to partner with the local ISKCON centre in these countries and cater to the food requirements of these impacted people for an initial period. ISKCON Hungary has already distributed food free of cost to hundreds of refugees over the last couple of days. ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Manor plans to send a team of 10 devotees to the border of Ukraine to help in the refugee aid program.
Our immediate focus is to scale the food distribution to 10k meals a day and support the activity for the first 60 days. We will send a team of 10 additional resources from the UK to support the relief effort on the ground.
We are raising an initial amount of £1.2m to support all this activity.
