Srimad Bhagavatam: Canto 6

Registration is closed for this event

The Bhagavad Gita is invaluable in gifting us the words and instructions of Krishna. And then there is the Srimad Bhagavatam, gifting us further instructions of Krishna but also allowing us to be privy to his activities too.  If one is to listen to the instructions of Krishna, then at some point it behoves one to know more about what Krishna does, his adventures and his enlivening interactions with others on the terrestrial, celestial and transcendental planes of reality.

This vast and comprehensive Spiritual literature is divided into 12 Cantos. Each canto focusing on a certain aspect of Krishna’s qualities. This course will be looking at the 6th Canto and Krsna’s mood of protection. Protecting us individually and collectively. We live in uncertain times and it can be argued that many individuals are in dire need of protection, from others and from themselves, or even if divine protection actually exists at all?

As well as providing insightful discourses on the events taking place in the 6th Canto, this interactive course will also look at the following paradigms:

- Krishna’s protection upon all of us in subtle and tangible ways

- Accessing Krsna’s protection more closely in our lives

- Krishna’s protection impacting us on the physical, emotional and psychological levels of our consciousness

- Always remaining in a spiritually protected state of union with Krishna despite all the vicissitudes of life?

This course is suitable for 13 years and above.

Knowledge and understanding of “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” is preferred, so that deeper subject matters can be easily grasped.

About the Speaker

Kartik Chandra Das - A Krishna conscious scholar and maestro of many disciplines, Kartik Chandra Das’ breadth of understanding of the Vedic literatures is astounding. He has a very proficient understanding of Sanskrit, the original language of the Spiritual scriptures as well as a remarkable capacity to analyse and dissect concepts to a very precise degree. Combined, this puts him in a uniquely gifted position to approach and understand the ancient Spiritual scriptures and convey that understanding to modern society in a very practically applicable manner.

A Krishna conscious practitioner his whole life, he also understands and feels the devotional essence of the scriptures not just viewing them from an intellectual perspective. Being an Engineering Graduate with a First-Class Honours degree and having a Post-Graduate in Computer Science helped him to develop a scientific mindset with regards to scriptural scrutiny. But this never came at odds with his early years training in Krishna conscious philosophy and the Sanskrit language but instead propelled him to go back to his roots to discover answers to the many mysteries of life which remain elusive to modern science.

After diligently studying all of Srila Prabhupada’s books, he felt incredible joy and fulfilment and developed an insatiable taste for the practice of Bhakti and the message of the Vedic literatures, especially Srimad-Bhagavatam, which is his favourite literary work.  He has now been connected with the Bhaktivedanta Manor for over 18 years and generously gives his time to the community in various capacities, primarily focusing on mentoring, educating, and inspiring devotees to dive deeper and discover the finer principles hidden in the vast wealth of the Krishna conscious literature.
